The value of a piece of diamond is depending on its Color, Clarity, Cut and Carat. These are the 4C of
the diamond.
Color
Diamond is graded into different colors from D colorless to Z light yellow. Most common color ranges are color D, E, F (colorless), G, H, I, J (Near colorless) and K, L, M (Faint). Color affects the value of the diamond.

Clarity
They are the minute traces of other materials inside the diamond. Size and position of these materials determine the clarity and hence the value. 10 times magnifying glass is usually the instrument used for clarity grading. Clarity ranges are FL (Flawless), IF (Internally Flawless), VVS (Very Very Small inclusions), VS (Very Small inclusions), SI (Small Inclusions), and I (Included eye visible inclusions).

Cut
If a diamond is cut with right proportions it will display the greatest amount of brilliance. Cut too shallow, light escapes through the pavilion. Cut too deep, light escape through the opposite side of the pavilion. Well cut, light is reflected from one facet to another and dispersed through the top of the diamond. Most commonly found diamond shapes in market are circle, Oval, Marquise, Heart, Pear and Square.

Carat
Weight of diamond is measured in carats. A carat is divided into 100 points. Larger
diamonds are rare and prices are relatively higher. However, other than size, color, clarity and cut determine the price as well.
 Storage
Though diamond is hard, never put 2 or more diamond jewelleries together. It might cause scratches on diamond surface due to contact. Best is to store each diamond jewellery in different compartments in the jewellery box.
 Cleaning
Regular cleaning: regularly clean it with soft cloth
  Remove tough dirt
1) Soak the jewellery in warm diluted detergent water for 10 to 15 minutes.
2) Brush it with soft brushes to remove the dirt on surface. Rinse with clean
water then dry with a hair-dryer.
3) Never wash the jewellery in the sink, loose diamond might be flushed away,
causing unnecessary lost. Always wash it in a container.
For better result, wash diamond jewellery with sonic jewellery cleaner regularly in jewellery shop every few months.
 Wearing
Never wear 2 jewelleries together, i.e. necklace, to avoid unnecessary contact which will cause scratches on jewelleries.
 Perfumes or chemicals
Quality of diamonds will never be degraded by chemicals, however, the metal mounts holding the diamonds will lose its shininess due to chemical reaction. If possible, avoid unnecessary contact with chemicals.
 Check jewellery regularly
Check regularly for loosen diamonds due to aging of setting. If any, fix it in the jewellery shop.
